49th: Deploying a Residential Integrated Demand Side Management (IDSM) Platform for a Decarbonized Future - Connected Devices Interest Group

Date: May 2024

Driven by local, state, and federal commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, program administrators across the United States and Canada are working to accelerate the development and availability of connected and efficient residential solutions. In support of this work, the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) has introduced the CEESM Integrated Home Initiative which lays out a vision wherein efficient residential devices can seamlessly communicate with each other and the grid, simultaneously optimizing value for consumers and enabling safe, reliable, and affordable energy.

In support of this vision, CEE also administers the annual Integrated Home Competition, a market transformation effort that rewards manufacturer leadership in developing efficient connected technologies. As these complementary efforts have matured, CEE members have increasingly focused their attention into the development and administration of programs that utilize connected equipment. This session will feature a panel of CEE member utilities who will delve into connected programs that have evolved from the CEE Integrated Home vision. The discussion will also encompass the barriers faced, successes achieved, and opportunities presented through greater utilization of connected technology in residential domains.
