SMUD partnered with the OVGIP and Optiwatt to deliver a telematics-based active managed residential charging pilot. The Aug 2022 pilot, with 1,000+ enrolled participants included Tesla, Ford, BMW, and GM vehicles. In addition to reducing system peak, this pilot targeted reduction of service transformer peak loading, and consumption of excess solar, for the purpose of evaluating the business case for its transition from pilot to program.
