V2G programs provide value to grid operators, market participants, and drivers, but deployments are slow. Octopus Energy launched the U.K.’s first V2G customer plan which offers free EV charging for participating customers. A previous pilot optimized an EV fleet for market signals and included these EVs in National Grid ESO’s Balancing Mechanism to provide grid services and meet customer charging preferences.
