Do you often question why load management struggles to scale? Has demand flexibility peaked in terms of adoption since smart thermostats? Or is crossing the chasm a challenge because we fail to capture the value of demand flexibility benefits? Join us for an intimate workshop to discuss what demand flexibility benefits aren’t being captured, why, and how we can more effectively identify, value, and capture them. We will facilitate this workshop in two phases. In Phase 1, we will conduct a deep dive into localized distribution benefits to understand 1) existing frameworks for valuing or quantifying these benefits, 2) identify existing barriers, and 3) identify relevant and actionable use cases for our members. We will also capture variation in terms of localized distribution benefits across regions, regulatory environments, utility business models, and grid architecture. In Phase 2, we will poll workshop attendees about other potentially “uncaptured” demand flexibility value streams (e.g., equity, affordability, resiliency, GHG emissions) and their priority to advance load management.
