In this session, LUMA will share how they designed an EV program to collect data insights about customer charging patterns in Puerto Rico and encourage beneficial charging habits via monthly on-bill credits to customers. They will also discuss the unique challenges of delivering electricity to EV drivers on an island grid system with significant and growing solar and storage assets. LUMA and WeaveGrid are working to ensure that those resources are used to their fullest capacity to deliver affordable and reliable power to the whole island. LUMA is also preparing for a future where EVs act as additional distributed storage devices to supplement the storage being deployed today, making EVs into assets for the grid.
