In late 2021, SDGE began a journey to revamp its demand management capabilities, At the time, SDG&E’s DR programs were managed with several different solutions, complex middleware and integrations, and a significant number of manual processes. Their goal of the project was to simplify the solution and eliminate manual processes by centralizing all demand response program management into one software solution that complemented SDGE’s IT posture, and supported the complete DR Program Lifecycle, including calculating baselines with same day adjustments and the corresponding payments and penalties, full CAISO integration, and support for a multitude of third-party aggregator companies. This presentation will outline the legacy environment at the time of project kickoff, and juxtapose with the current operating environment, with a focus on specific lessons learned, and future SDGE initiatives going forward.
